HAIR TRANSITIONING

There are two ways of going natural with your hair.
1. The BC (Big Chop) which basically means cutting off all the relaxed/damaged part of the hair and allowing the natural hair grow out. But not everybody is comfortable with the idea of keeping a TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro) so the second option comes to place.

2. Transitioning. As oppose to the BC, you don't have to cut off all the relaxed part at once instead you stop the relaxing process and allow your natural hair grow out. You can transition for as long as you want but because you are dealing with two texture of hair, you have to treat it and care for it properly.

CARE FOR YOUR TRANSITIONING HAIR
There are different types of hair textures and the easiest to break is the 4c which is called the kinky hair. It is important to know how to care for your hair in order for growth to be fast and effective.

1. STAY AWAY FROM HEAT. When you are about 2 to 3 months in, you will notice the difference in the texture and you might be tempted to yank out your straightener to the rescue BAD IDEA. Heat damages hair texture and trust me you do not want to start your new hair damaged.

2. DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH PRODUCT. The 4c texture of your hair might tempt you to put in lots of products to make it soft and easy to brush but you do not have to. All you need is a leave-in conditioner for moisture and a very good deep conditioner (preferably homemade). I personally recommend cantu leave-in conditioner.

3. FALL IN LOVE WITH OILS. If there is any thing good enough for your hair, its oils. For example, avocado oil, castor oil, olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil and sesame oil. You can use any of this oils for hot oil treatment and massage into hair to prevent frizzy hair.

5. PROTECT YOUR HAIR AT NIGHT. Prevent your hair from rubbing against your pillow at night cover with a silk or satin bonnet or sleep with a satin pillowcase. Satin or silk wont absorb your hair's natural oils and therefore keep your hair frizz free all trough the night. Satin bonnets come in different sizes so you don't have to worry about your big hair. lol.

6. CREATE A REGIMEN. Washing your hair everyday takes out the natural oils in it so you have to create a timetable sort of for washing your hair and treating it.
